Charity of the Month HOLISTIC BODYWORX {Charity Yoga}

Charity Yoga will run for 8 Weeks on Sundays.

You can reserve your spot by paying $40 for the 8 weeks up front. You can either phone with a credit card or come in to reception to register. You can also register on Sunday. Drop ins are $6.00 on a first come first serve basis. If you are dropping in please bring exact change or cheque. If you have a package and want to use your sessions from your existing package, we will donate $4.00 from your existing package to the Food Bank.

Starting Sunday, March 28th – 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Taught by our graduating Yoga Teacher Training Students.

All proceeds will be donated to The Mississauga Food Bank.

March Charity - My Sister's Place

Since 1987, People In Transition “My Sister’s Place” has provided emergency shelter services to abused women and their children in South Simcoe County. We serve the communities of Alliston, Adjala-Tosorontio, Angus/Borden, Bond Head, Beeton, Bradford, Cookstown, Essa, Innisfil, Tottenham, New Tecumseth and West Gwilliumbury.


Women living in abusive situations in the rural and farm communities in South Simcoe face many barriers to leaving the violence in their lives including: isolation from community supports, lack of transportation, and high rents. These women have often experienced physical, emotional, verbal and sexual abuse within their intimate relationships. Their children may have experienced trauma from the domestic violence they have witnessed in the home.
“My Sister’s Place” provides safe refuge to abused women and their children who are fleeing abusive relationships. My Sister’s Place” serves over 1,000 women (and their children) annually in both our residential and non-residential services. In the shelter, staff offer crisis counseling, emergency transportation support, referrals to other community services, and legal and housing support to abused women and children. Our Outreach/Legal Advocate travels throughout South Simcoe communities to provide these same confidential services to women and their children who choose to remain in their rural communities.

“My Sister’s Place” relies on provincial government funding and the financial support of our local communities to keep our shelter doors open for the abused women and their children of South Simcoe County. It is through the ongoing support of community partners, organizations and members that we can continue to provide safe shelter, counseling, and outreach services for abused women choosing violence-free lives.  (source : mysistersplace.ca)

As the day came I sat in the chair at the salon and thought if this was the right thing for me to do.....then I thought of those who could benefit from my hair donation.

Tracy, my wonderful hair dresser approached with measuring tape in hand. As she took the tape to my hair she questioned me about the style I was going for. After many looks through magazines, my style was selected and the cutting began......

The Big Day - Donation Day

Today is the day for my Hair Donation to A Child's Voice Foundation



Here is the story:

About 3 years ago I decided to cut my hair. It was pretty long already and summer was approaching, so I figured why not? Having short hair was not a bad thing at all. Actually I thought about how cool it would be on those really hot summer’s days.

It wasn’t until after it was cut that I heard about donating it for the benefit of children. I did some research and found “A Childs Voice Foundation”, they run a charity called Angel Hair for Kids. This is a non profit organization that is run right around the corner from the Final Touch. There are guidelines to follow when donating, listed below.



Hair Donations:



1. Please ensure your hair has been washed and is thoroughly dry before it is cut. Please do not send wet hair.



2. Hair must not be chemically treated or processed.



3. The hair donation must be a minimum of 10”/25cm.



4. Pull curly hair straight to measure during cutting procedure.



5. We suggest that you have your hair cut at by a hairdresser.



6. Secure ponytails or braids with rubber bands at both ends.



7. Wrap the hair in tissue paper.



8. Place hair in an envelope and include a donator’s contact information so we may

mail their certificate of appreciation. (Please print clearly).



9. If possible please include a “toonie” to help us cover mailing costs.



10. You may mail or deliver the hair donation to A Child’s Voice Foundation™ office



So with three years gone by and my hair being unchemically treated and about 12 inches long I venture to the hair dresser in 2 weeks for a cut.



I will keep you updated with what happened......

The earthquake in Haiti is affecting us all

The earthquake in Haiti is affecting us all. As a part of our involvement, The Final Touch is going to be selling off items in the store and giving proceeds to support the people of this disastrous event.

One of our thoughts at the Final Touch is to help make the world a better place. Even if it is a small donation, we are still doing something more than some people. Right now the world is in such dire need to be fixed. I can say, many will agree, that the life that we live is a very easy way of living. We never really need to worry about anything.
